BT Group announced today the appointment of Allison Kirkby as its new chief executive, taking over from Philip Jansen at the end of January. Kirkby, who currently serves as the president and CEO of Swedish telecommunications operator Telia, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has previously held leadership positions in prominent Danish and Swedish telecommunications companies TDC and Tele2.

Telia confirmed that Kirkby will continue in her role as CEO until January 31, and stated that they will immediately commence the search for a suitable replacement.

In a statement, Kirkby expressed her excitement about the unique opportunity presented to her in the UK. She also acknowledged the sacrifices she has made over the past decade, living apart from her family. Kirkby emphasized her commitment to driving Telia’s agenda forward during the remainder of her tenure.

Having served as a non-executive director at BT Group since 2019, Kirkby will now assume the role of chief executive, with an annual salary of £1.1 million ($1.41 million) and benefits aligned with BT Group’s remuneration policy.
