European stocks saw a slight decrease on Monday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index closing down 0.13% at 433.18.
Individual Index Performance
The FTSE 100 index fell 0.37% to 7,374.83, while the German DAX remained flat at 14,800.72. On the other hand, the French CAC 40 index gained 0.50% to reach 6,850.47.
Biggest Losers
Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600 index, Adevinta ASA, a business services company, experienced the largest decline as its shares fell by 9.6%. Printing/publishing firm Schibsted ASA and real estate company Aroundtown S.A. also saw significant drops, with their shares declining by 6.7% and 5.9% respectively. Completing the top five biggest decreases were real estate/construction company Vistry Group PLC and business Scatec ASA, with their stocks falling by 5.8% and 5.1% respectively.
Top Performers
InPost S.A., an air transport company, recorded the largest increase among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents as its shares rose by 5.7% on Monday. Leisure/arts/hospitality firm Flutter Entertainment PLC and retail company Ocado Group PLC also showcased positive performance, with their shares increasing by 4.7% and 3.8% respectively. Health care/life sciences company Getinge AB Series B and Idorsia Ltd. completed the top five largest increases, with their stocks gaining 3.8% and 3.3%.
Currency and Commodity Market Updates
The pound strengthened against the dollar, with a 0.54% increase, while the euro saw a slight rise of 0.48%. Brent crude weakened by 1.43% to reach $90.84.
Government Bond Yields
The yield on the 10-year gilt fell by 5.43 basis points to 4.601%, while the yield on the German 10-year bund declined by 1.690 basis points to 2.88%.
