New Gold has experienced a remarkable 45% surge in gold production during the second quarter of this year, largely attributed to improved mill availability.
Impressive Production Numbers
President and Chief Executive, Patrick Godin, expressed his satisfaction with the company’s performance, stating, “We had another excellent quarter, with gold equivalent production reaching 102,374 ounces. This represents a substantial 45% increase compared to the same period last year.”
Consolidated gold production saw a significant rise, reaching 76,527 ounces compared to 52,431 ounces in the previous year. Copper production also experienced a notable increase, rising from 7.4 million metric tons to 12 million metric tons.
Success at Rainy River
Godin attributed the exceptional quarterly production results at the Rainy River site near Fort Frances, Ontario, to enhanced mill availability, which was achieved through proactive measures taken during planned maintenance activities. Gold production at Rainy River increased to 59,882 ounces from 42,516 ounces in the previous quarter.
New Afton Mine Demonstrates Growth
Gold production at the New Afton mine in British Columbia also demonstrated robust growth, with output rising to 16,645 ounces from 9,916 ounces in the second quarter of 2022.
These impressive results signal New Gold’s commitment to delivering strong production figures and solidifying its position as a leading player in the industry.
